Dr. Sofia obtained both her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and Pediatric Dental certificate from Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston. She is a board-certified pediatric dentist.
While she enjoyed the snow on the East Coast for a few years, she missed sunny California and decided to move back to join her now husband in Northern California.
Dr. Sofia brings a gentle and compassionate approach to caring for children, making her a soothing presence in the dental office. She is enthusiastic about playing a role in cultivating positive oral care habits among the next generation and is committed to creating the most favorable experiences for children during their visits.
When not at the office, Dr. Sofia likes to spend time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She enjoys baking, gardening, and trying new restaurants.
General dentists are capable of treating children, and many excel at it. However, there is a substantial distinction between a general dentist and a pediatric dentist.
While both general and pediatric dentists receive education in dental school and acquire the skills to perform standard procedures like cleanings and restorative dentistry, pediatric dentists undergo additional years of postgraduate education in a clinical environment, as well as a hospital setting.
This extended education enables pediatric dentists to develop expertise in various oral health conditions specific to children. They acquire specialized knowledge in procedures and techniques tailored to working with children and addressing their unique needs.
Dr. Sofia is a board-certified dentist, and her decision to become certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) demonstrates her unwavering commitment to excellence in dentistry. This certification serves as a symbol of Dr. Sofia's expertise and competence, and she has proven herself to be a highly skilled professional who goes above and beyond for her patients. Driven by passion, Dr. Sofia sets herself apart from others in her field through continuous growth and improvement while delivering patient-centered care with an extensive understanding of pediatric dentistry.
